1/2 Birthday Fun

On Friday, Noah celebrated his 9 1/2 birthday by having a Lego party!  As you may have seen in last week's pictures, I was working on all kinds of edible Lego creations.  I think the only thing pictured last week was the Lego mini-figure marshmallow heads.  I also made Lego cake pops (small pieces of cake put into a mold with colorful candy melts), Lego ice cubes, Lego chocolates , Lego goodie bags and, since it was a 1/2 birthday, I made half of a birthday cake!  I am in no way a cake decorator - I have a hard time just spreading frosting on a cake - so you'll be amazed.  lol  We had 7 boys here (if you count Noah & Josiah), a gazillion Legos and lots of fun.  How could it be anything but fun with all that sugar?  :)  The boys spent the night and then we took some of them to the pool on Saturday.  There are lots of pictures to check out and since I'm still using Winkflash, they're all out of order once again.  It may also seem like there are some duplicates since I uploaded phone & regular camera photos.  I also found a few pictures from when we picked up Noah from camp that I couldn't remember posting, so again, a random assortment of pictures.

This week we have VBS in the evenings and if you can believe it, we've been stuck inside due to RAIN!  Monday, we went to Chuck E. Cheese's for lunch and fun - we didn't know what to do with ourselves with all the wet stuff outside!  Yesterday, we had planned to go to the pool but it literally rained all day long.  So instead, we went to the movie store and rented video games and movies and spent the day as couch potatoes.  We're hoping to go to the pool today but apparently, more rain is on the way so we may have to find some other indoor fun to keep us busy.

Tomorrow we head to Indy, NASCAR & GUMMY!!!  :)

Noah's home!

Noah had a great week at camp and my camera was indeed found!  So, the sparkler pictures are here!  :)  We had a few extra boxes and Josiah wanted to do them - he had no problems doing more than one the second time around.

Since Noah's return, we've not done a whole lot - it's been so hot around here that we've mostly spent time either at the pool or sitting in the a/c.  We also had a fun picnic with several of the other pastors and their families in our circuit.  I brought the camera but did not take a single picture.  The wives were having too much fun talking and catching up while the kids played.  Still, I know I should have taken pictures....

Noah went to an overnight and the rest of our time has been spent preparing for his half birthday party this Friday.  I made marshmallow Lego heads and Noah drew on the faces with gel frosting.  The next couple days will be filled with last minute preparations but you'll have to wait to hear about those until next week.  :)

Good News/Bad News

So, what do you want first?  :)

The bad news is, I lost my camera at Camp Lutherhaven on Sunday when we dropped off Noah.  The good news is, I only had one camp picture and a few sparkler pictures on there and everything else is on my phone.  The good news is, they FOUND the camera!  Now, if it can survive life in Noah's bag for the week, I'll have it back for next week's installment and you'll see those few pictures.  More good news... I'm currently uploading all of my phone pictures to a folder on Winkflash!  Which means you'll finally get to see all those lovely pictures I've been talking about these last 2 months.  :)  Since my laptop and phone still don't seem to want to play nice together, I gave it a try on ol' reliable - the desktop.  It's starting to be ancient now, still has Windows XP, is slower than molasses in January, BUT, it has no vendetta against my phone, so now we're in business!

So, on to our week in review....

More hot weather around here which means more time at the pool!  We also spent time getting Noah packed for camp.  On Sunday, we took him to Camp Lutherhaven, which is located about 45 minutes NW of Ft. Wayne.  He has been to Camp for the last 3 years but THIS year, he gets to stay for a whole week!  He was very excited (as were we) and Camp hasn't called for us to come get him yet, so I'm pretty sure all is going well.  :)  Josiah is missing him most, I think, though today I have only had to remind him once that Noah is at camp.  As we drove away from Camp on Sunday, Josiah was very upset because Noah wasn't with us.  We explained that Noah was supposed to stay and we would come back to get him on Friday and then he seemed fine.  However, for the next 36 hours or so, every time we did anything, he either asked where Noah was or asked if Noah was going to do whatever we were doing too. (e.g. J & I went to the pool on Monday and J asked if Noah was coming too and then was looking for Noah at the pool the whole time...)  But as I said, today, it hasn't been the incessant, non-stop Noah-this and Noah-that.  Josiah might just be enjoying life as an only child... we went to Chuck E. Cheese (where he climbed up into the tubes and then screamed for me b/c he couldn't figure out how to get back out), a bike ride, he had one of his favorite babysitters all to himself last night while Michael and I had date night, we did a fun Pinterest activity(see below) and he can watch tv in peace without big brother messing with him.  I will admit, it's pretty quiet around here with only one child!  I'm sure Noah is having a blast and I can't wait to share some of his adventures on the blog next week.

The Pinterest activity that I mentioned involved baking soda, vinegar, food coloring and an eye dropper.  Put those things together with a 2 year old boy and it adds up to FUN.  I only had a small amount of vinegar to use (maybe 3/4 cup) and when it was gone, Josiah was looking for more.  The best part was that I used our old baking soda from the freezer (I think it was dated April 2010... maybe I'll change it more regularly with this little activity...) and it worked just fine.  Here are a few pictures from the fizzy, colorful excitement we had!

Not only is it fun, it's great for fine motor skills (using the eye dropper), there's science involved, and though it looks like a big mess there at the end, it really is a quick, easy clean-up and Josiah didn't have a speck of food coloring on him.

The link to all those phone pictures (which include camp, the mall play area in Ft. Wayne with J and a gazillion "old" photos from the last 2 months, some of which you may have already seen but I couldn't remember what I had been able to post and what I hadn't) is right HERE. :)

4th of July pictures

Josiah was far than happy with the noisy firecrackers but he did willingly play with the glow  sticks and even held a sparkler! But when the firecrackers really started to get noisy, he opted to go to bed rather than stay outside. I tried to get him to smile but these shots show how unsuccessful I was!

 CHEEEEEESE!

Josiah's first sparkler!  Michael was holding it with him, but he moved away and did it on his own - even waved it around a little.  :)  Watching big brother Noah, he knew exactly what to do.

But one was enough - I was going to do video of a 2nd sparkler but he was done.

This Josiah with the fireworks setting on the camera

Ready to go in - enough with the loud noises!

 A few little smiles

"Go night-night, Mommy!"

not as easy as I'd hoped....

Too hard to explain (and do you really care anyway??) but I can't upload pictures from my phone to my blog at this time... I'll make it happen eventually!  :)

Happy 4th of July!

Today has been one of those unusual days when it is hotter here than it is in Mesa, AZ, where I grew up.  We hovered right around 100 and even after 8pm, it is still 98* here.  Fireworks are scheduled for 10pm but b/c of the heat, we've decided we're going to see what we can see from our backyard and not make the mile long walk to the park.  We spent the morning at the pool and the afternoon inside, avoiding the heat and enjoying the a/c!  We're planning to do glow sticks and sparklers in the backyard when it gets dark - I'll add pictures from that tomorrow.

There was a huge storm on Friday night that took out power all around us with downed trees & limbs.  We were fortunate not to have more than a few flickers and only small sticks and branches down around us.  The boys and I ride our bikes around a nearby cemetery - it's quiet, well-shaded and no traffic, which makes it perfect for riding.  We went to check it out on Monday after the storm and found many trees down and basically a huge mess.  I took a picture of the boys next to one huge tree that was literally uprooted - but again, it's on my phone.  I've figured out how to upload pictures from my phone to the blog since my laptop doesn't like my phone but I need to change some settings to allow that so hope to have some pictures added soon!  I especially want to share the picture of that uprooted tree!

Other than that, it's just pool time and trying to stay cool.  I'm going to go figure out the settings and try to get some photos uploaded.  :)  Hope you had a great 4th.
