Spring??

Last week I was happy to share that spring had sprung in Lima. This week, it's back to winter weather, or so it seems... though there's no snow on the ground, the temps have been below freezing, sometimes barely getting over that 32* mark by afternoon. So it's back inside, pounding on the window glass, begging to go out. :)

Our friends, Beka & Matthew and their mom, were in Lima last week visiting family for their Spring Break, so we started ours a bit early and joined them at Chuck E. Cheese's on Thursday. Though I actually remembered to bring my camera this time, I didn't do a great job of taking pictures. I did get a cute one of Beka & Josiah at the sketch pad, waiting for their picture to come out.

As for our Spring Break, it's been a bit quiet - we've mostly been hanging around home not doing much. We did make a trip over to Ft. Wayne yesterday to drop some stuff at the Sem and then over to the mall to wander around and have lunch. Josiah discovered the joy of the mall play area and Noah got to ride the carousel.

Spring!

Over the weekend, we had a very nice taste of spring with warm weather and play time outside! Josiah quickly got over his fear of walking in the grass and by Monday night, was running through the yard. Noah was happy to be outside as well and was very excited when he got to ride his bike again. Of course, today it's barely 40* and there is a chance for snow tomorrow with no warm weather in the forecast. Gotta love spring in Ohio. :)





And since spring has sprung, we finally got Josiah's birthday present put together - a trike that transforms from a rocking horse to a trike with a handle so he can be pushed and finally to a regular trike that he can peddle on his own.



Josiah loves to "help" with spring cleaning... here he is cleaning the kitchen floor for me! lol


Happy Spring!

e-i-e-i-o!

Though Josiah still isn't really saying a lot of words, he does jabber a lot. He started singing along with Old McDonald from one of his toys - you have to sort of use your imagination on this - he does much better when the camera isn't on him. We need to work on this if he's going to be the next American Idol. ;) He also seems to be trying to crow like a rooster, which is the animal the toy is singing about.


As I mentioned last week, Noah has a piece of his artwork hanging at Lima City School's Ed. Center. I did see it - it's a self-portrait in the style of Mary Engelbreit, a style they studied in art - but I forgot the camera... a common phrase in my life these days.

Our weather is starting to come around and we did spend a few minutes outside when the sun was shining. Josiah was happy to go outside but not too sure about walking through the yard. He stood in the same spot until I moved him.

Noah, of course, has no problem running through the yard. :) He is still playing out Star Wars scenes using an old dowel rod as his light saber and his bug vacuum as Han Solo's gun.


Another day when Noah was playing outside, I happened to get a glimpse of him as he walked by and had to go back for a second look. You can't say he doesn't have an active imagination...

a whole lot of nothin'

This would be a week I think I would skip blogging but I'm trying to stay in my habit of posting every Wednesday, so here's a whole lot of nothin' for you. I forced myself to take one picture of the boys playing with Michael so I'd have SOMETHING to post here...


I did take Josiah to the allergist this morning in hopes of getting some answers regarding his food issues. The doctor said he more than likely does have some food allergies but he thinks that Josiah will outgrow most, if not all, of them. He said we are fortunate because Josiah does not have eczema or even dry skin to show for these food issues he's having. We did a blood draw this morning to test for basic allergies and will go from there. For now, Josiah remains on his restricted diet and seems to be doing fine. Once again, this is much more frustrating for mommy than for baby! Josiah is cutting another tooth and is also quite vocal these days. He loves to mimic us, though he still isn't saying any real, discernible words. I tried to get a video of him mimicking us but he does not perform on demand. ;) He loves to be read to and definitely understands what we're saying to him - he follows directions better than his 8 year old brother sometimes!

A piece of Noah's artwork was selected to be displayed at the district offices for Lima City Schools (known as the Ed Center) again this year. I actually have a meeting with the Superintendent and the Director of the Arts Magnet tomorrow, so I'll get to see the display. If I think of it, I'll take a picture - that way next week I'll have something to put on the blog! :)

what a week

For those of you searching out pictures of my two adorable boys, I'm afraid you'll be disappointed. As is typical as winter starts to wind down, the picture opportunities seem to be few and far between. Mostly, we're anxiously awaiting those signs of spring that tell us it's time to go outside and play. This past week, the weather was telling us to stay IN a bit longer. What a weather week it was... I think we've experienced it all - rain, sleet, snow, wind, lightning, thunder, flooding and even a tornado watch. Fortunately, we've even had a little bit of sunshine. In fact, the sun is shining today and the thermometer on my sunny porch is reading 50* right now. The tulips, daffodils and crocuses are starting to inch up out of the ground - always an encouraging sight for me - and though the trees are still completely bare, at least most of the snow is melted!

As for updates on the boys, Noah had a great dental check-up last week - no cavaties! and he is finally getting over the cough and cold he's had for most of February. He's still a total Lego-maniac and loves playing Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Lego Star Wars on Wii. His drawings continue to amaze us and he is still doing great in school. Josiah cut another tooth this week - he now has 6 - and is currently dairy-free, nut-free and gluten-free. Oh the joys of trying to figure out a 1 year old's food "sensitivities." Hopefully he'll outgrow all of these issues but for now, we're working through it. This is much more frustrating for me than him - he'll literally eat whatever we put in front of him.
